Guangzhou Xinsha Port's new energy vehicle exports surge by 265%

2026-05-08

The "Asia" ship slowly docked at Xinsha Port in Guangzhou on the 7th, and the second duty team of Huangpu Border Inspection Station in Guangzhou efficiently ensured the loading of more than 900 domestically produced new energy vehicles. Data shows that since the beginning of this year, the export of new energy vehicles from Xinsha Port has exceeded 25000 units, a year-on-year surge of 265%. As an important automobile distribution hub in South China, Xinsha Port has long been the largest automobile import port in South China. With the optimization of industrial structure, the pattern of port foreign trade has ushered in a historic turning point. According to the Huangpu Border Inspection Station, in February of this year, Xinsha Port exported nearly 11000 vehicles, surpassing the import volume of more than 9000 vehicles, and the export volume exceeded the import volume for the first time. The overall vehicle operation volume of the port increased by 93.2% year-on-year. This turning point is due to the shift in global market demand. Su Jieyu, the head of Guangzhou Port Group Xinsha Port Co., Ltd., pointed out that there is a surge in demand for low-energy and high intelligent vehicle models in Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions. Domestic brands such as BYD, GAC, and Xiaopeng continue to lead the way with their full industry chain advantages. The macro data of the industry is equally impressive. In the first quarter of 2026, China's automobile exports reached 2.226 million units, a year-on-year increase of 56.7%; Among them, the export of new energy vehicles reached 954000 units, a surge of 1.2 times. Since April, multiple giant ships such as the "Capricorn Leader" have set sail from Xinsha Port, with a single ship carrying up to 85% of new energy vehicles. The frequency and volume of port departures have repeatedly broken records. Faced with the increasing pressure of shipping schedules, the second duty team of Huangpu Border Inspection Station has tailored a support plan, implemented 24-hour on-site inspections, and opened a "green channel" for the export of new energy vehicles. By completing the entry and exit procedures in one stop, following up on the loading and inspection process throughout the entire process, the ship's docking time is minimized to ensure "zero detention and zero delay" for the export of complete vehicles, solving the pain point of "no waiting for people on shipping schedules" for enterprises. At present, Xinsha Port has established a normalized sea route network covering Southeast Asia, Oceania, and Europe. With the continuous iteration of customs clearance facilitation measures, this old automotive hub is accelerating its transformation and becoming an important gateway for new energy vehicles in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area to deeply cultivate the global market.
