The opening ceremony of "Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Month 2026" and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Carnival will kick off at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and outdoor plazas, bringing performances such as lion dance by women and experience booths such as flower ribbon weaving; This year, the number of the "essence of intangible cultural heritage" delegation increased to 40, with 9 distinctive routes covering 8 regions, including Wanchai and outlying islands, leading participants to visit local intangible cultural heritage skills in depth; The exterior wall of the Hong Kong Space Museum will stage a light and shadow performance with the theme of "horse", presenting the intangible cultural elements and historical and cultural connotations contained in horses in cultural relics and art; The "Intangible Cultural Heritage Fun" mobile school will bring intangible cultural heritage knowledge and Chinese culture to the campus through touring exhibitions and interactive workshops. In addition, this year's "Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Month" will also hold various carnivals, intangible cultural heritage skills exhibitions and on-site demonstrations, summits, special lectures, workshops and other diverse activities, allowing citizens and tourists to have a deeper understanding of Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage, and personally experience the cultural connotations and fun of intangible cultural heritage. It is reported that there are currently 507 items on the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage List. As of December 2024, the number of projects on the "Representative List of Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage" has increased to 24, among which 12 projects such as the Hakka Kirin Dance in Hang Hau, Sai Kung have been included in the "Representative List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects".
