Starting from May 1, 2026, China will fully implement zero tariff measures for 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with China. At midnight on the 1st, Shenzhen Bay Port welcomed the first batch of imported goods nationwide after the measures came into effect. 24 tons of apples originating from South Africa will be quickly supervised and released by Shenzhen Customs before being distributed to major supermarkets and fruit and vegetable wholesale markets across the country. The import tariff on South African apples has been reduced from 10% to 0, significantly increasing the cost advantage of the goods. The implementation of zero tariffs this time is another major measure taken by China after implementing zero tariffs on all least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations, including 33 African least developed countries, on December 1, 2024. It will undoubtedly inject strong impetus into China Africa trade and investment cooperation and African development. (Looking into the New Era)
