The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced on the 15th that there were approximately 14.31 million visitors to Hong Kong in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 17% year-on-year. Among them, mainland tourists reached 11.08 million, a year-on-year increase of 20%. Data shows that there were approximately 4.35 million visitors to Hong Kong in March this year, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year. The Hong Kong Tourism Board stated that the proportion of international tourists is higher than before, believed to be driven by multiple international level art events, such as the Art Basel Hong Kong exhibition and the "Art Central" exhibition. These large-scale exhibitions not only attract artists and collectors from around the world to visit Hong Kong, but also further enrich the local cultural and tourism experience. In addition, Hong Kong's air transport capacity steadily increased in the first quarter of this year, while also welcoming multiple international cruise ships. The long-distance market passenger volume increased by 19% year-on-year in the first quarter, reaching about 990000 people. Hong Kong will soon host events such as the 2026 Hong Kong International Rugby Sevens and Cheung Chau Bun Festival, showcasing the city's dynamic and cultural charm to visitors through a diverse range of activities.
