Cultivate insight into 'AI warfare'

2026-04-14

Insight is the ability to discover deep patterns from complexity and uncover certainty from uncertainty. Under the conditions of intelligent warfare, commanders are able to obtain more and more information, and the challenge they face is no longer a lack of information, but the difficulty of extracting deep conclusions from massive amounts of information. Therefore, in order to enhance the command literacy of the intelligent era, commanders must focus on cultivating insight into "AI warfare". Insight comes from intuition, and intuition comes from experience. Excellent commanders should possess the comprehensive ability to quickly grasp the essence of problems, foresee the development of the battlefield, identify enemy key points, and make decisive decisions in complex and uncertain environments. This ability is not generated out of thin air, but a highly condensed cognitive leap based on profound accumulation. The manifestation of this leap is what we often refer to as' battlefield intuition '. Intuition is not a mysterious sixth sense, but a spark that bursts from deeply internalized experiences in an instant. The richer the experience, the larger and more refined the "battlefield pattern library" in the commander's brain, and the higher the accuracy and speed of their intuitive judgment. This experience based intuition is the core engine of battlefield insight. Traditional experience mainly comes from the commander's personal experience and the study and research of war history. However, in the era of intelligent warfare, battlefield data is growing exponentially, and the pace of confrontation is compressed to the level of seconds or even milliseconds, beyond the processing power of the human brain. The emergence of artificial intelligence has precisely given a new dimension to the connotation of experience. The experience of a commander is no longer just the accumulation of personal career, but has expanded into the "human-machine integration experience" formed by the joint processing of information and understanding of the battlefield by humans and intelligent systems. The insight of a commander has also been elevated to a comprehensive ability to master intelligent technology, collaborate with machines for cognition, and make value judgments and risk decisions beyond algorithms at critical nodes. Expand virtual experience in simulation training. With the development of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and AI technology, military simulation training has entered a new stage of high simulation, strong confrontation, and repeatability. The AI driven 'Intelligent Blue Army' can simulate opponents who are tactically flexible and extremely difficult to predict, providing commanders with challenges far beyond traditional military chess deduction. In these complex electromagnetic environments, cyber attacks, and cognitive domain confrontations constructed by AI, commanders can practice decision-making without risk, allowing trial and error, and thus experience multiple war scenarios in a short period of time, greatly compressing the cycle of experience accumulation. Forming data experience in human-machine symbiosis. With the increasingly widespread application of artificial intelligence technology in the military field, future commanders must learn to "fight side by side" with AI. The commander needs to make a judgment on the conclusion given by the AI assistant: what data is the conclusion based on? Does the algorithm model of AI have potential bias? Under what circumstances can this judgment be trusted, and under what circumstances does it need to be revised? This profound understanding of data, algorithms, and model capabilities formed through long-term integration and interaction with intelligent systems is a new "data experience" of "human-machine tacit understanding". It allows the commander's insight to penetrate the surface of data and reach the deep logic of battlefield operations. (New Society)
