In the operating room of Beijing Temple of Heaven Hospital located in Fengtai District, Beijing, a coin sized "Beinao No.1" internal machine was precisely attached to the patient's dura mater through a minimally invasive bone window - this semi invasive brain computer interface implantation surgery, which is broadcasted live nationwide, was successfully completed. Outside the operating room, hundreds of experts and scholars from the National Brain Computer Interface Clinical Application and Conversion Conference watched the entire surgical process in real time through a 4K large screen, and simultaneously conducted teaching discussions. This marks the official entry of China's high-end brain computer interface technology into the stage of large-scale clinical validation. The "Beinao-1" system used in this surgery demonstrates China's independent research and development capabilities across the entire chain. The system adopts a semi invasive epidural implantation pathway - without opening the dura mater or directly contacting brain tissue, only a small bone window needs to be opened in the skull to complete electrode application. Technical parameters show that the system is equipped with 128 channel synchronous acquisition, 30 kHz high-frequency sampling, and motion intention decoding delay of less than 100 milliseconds, which is sufficient to support fine motion control and Chinese language decoding. The coin sized internal device supports wireless transmission and charging, without exposed percutaneous wires, which means that patients do not need to be hospitalized for a long time after surgery and can receive high-quality neurological rehabilitation training at home.
