Li Jiachao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Zhuang Rongwen, Director of the National Internet Information Office, met in Hong Kong on the 12th to exchange views on deepening innovation and science cooperation, and jointly witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation on Innovation and Technology Development between the Bureau of Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Special Administrative Region Government and the National Cyberspace Office, to jointly promote high-quality development of the digital economy enabled by scientific and technological innovation. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and Wang Jingtao, Deputy Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, jointly signed the above-mentioned memorandum of cooperation. The memorandum of cooperation covers key areas such as artificial intelligence, cross-border data, and blockchain, with the goal of deeply implementing the national "15th Five Year Plan" outline, supporting Hong Kong's construction of an international innovation and technology center, and helping Hong Kong better integrate into and serve the overall development of the country. Both sides will jointly promote the development of new quality productive forces, deepen cooperation in cybersecurity, and strengthen international exchanges and promotion. Li Jiachao thanks the Cyberspace Administration of China for its continuous support of Hong Kong's innovation and technology development. He said that the signing of this memorandum of cooperation marks a new stage of cooperation between the SAR government and the Cyberspace Administration of China in the development of the digital economy, fully reflecting the high attention and support of the country for Hong Kong's innovation and technology development. Hong Kong will continue to leverage its unique advantages of relying on the motherland and connecting the world under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, deepen cooperation with the Cyberspace Administration of China, further promote cross-border data flow in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, and jointly contribute to the construction of a national science and technology powerhouse. Li Jiachao said that the Asia Pacific Summit of the World Internet Conference will be held in Hong Kong again this year from April 13 to 14. Hong Kong will actively demonstrate its digital economy strength and innovation capabilities, play an important bridging role in "bringing in and going out", further deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and expand broader and more diverse opportunities for innovation and technology cooperation.
