Against the backdrop of increasing global challenges and complex international situations, the Global Governance Initiative has contributed Chinese wisdom and solutions to further strengthen and improve global governance. Farhana Baruk, Chairman of the Cape Peninsula Chamber of Commerce in South Africa, recently stated in an interview with our reporter that the Global Governance Initiative aims to promote the construction of a more just and reasonable global governance system, achieve a global governance pattern of consultation, co construction and sharing, and is of great significance to countries in the global South, including African countries. Promoting the reform of the global governance system is an inevitable trend of the times. The existing global governance system has many imperfections and irrationalities, especially the unilateralism and protectionism pursued by some Western countries, which have had a serious impact on multilateralism, and the global governance deficit is becoming increasingly prominent. In addition, developing countries, including African countries, have relatively insufficient representation and voice in global governance, and their reasonable demands are difficult to fully reflect. Paruk said that the Global Governance Initiative aims to support the United Nations in playing a core role in international affairs and help countries participate in the reform and construction of the global governance system through multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations. The five core concepts of the Global Governance Initiative clarify the principles, methods, and paths that need to be followed to reform and improve global governance, "said Paruk. The global governance initiative emphasizes inclusive development, which is of great significance to the vast number of developing countries. ”Paruk said that countries in the global South are important participants and contributors to global governance, and global governance initiatives focus on the reasonable needs of developing countries and support them to play a greater role in global governance. Paruk stated, "The Global Governance Initiative injects new momentum into strengthening South South cooperation, which helps to better safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of countries in the global South." "China is a constructive force in reforming and improving global governance, and is driving global governance towards a more just and reasonable direction through practical actions. ”Taking China Africa cooperation as an example, Paruk said that China actively cooperates with African countries in technology research and development and capacity building, empowering Africa's sustainable development in fields such as railways, aerospace, and e-commerce, and providing opportunities for African countries to participate in global digital governance. China collaborates with Mozambique to carry out marine conservation projects and promote local marine ecological governance. Baruch said, "This type of cooperation practice breaks through the traditional one-way aid model, forming a virtuous cycle of 'capacity building - industrial development - governance optimization', and providing replicable experience for African countries to actively participate in the reform and improvement of the global governance system." Baruch believes that the Global Governance Initiative supports global and regional multilateral mechanisms to play a constructive role based on their own advantages, avoiding any discriminatory or exclusive arrangements. "African countries can actively participate in global and regional affairs, strengthen cooperation, and fight against unilateralism and protectionism through multilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the African Union, the Forum on China Africa Cooperation, and the the Belt and Road Initiative," said Paluk.
