On April 8th, the Chinese Navy's "Silk Road Ark" hospital ship, carrying out the "Harmony Mission-2025" mission, arrived at Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea for a 7-day friendly visit and medical services. This is the third visit of a Chinese naval hospital ship to Papua New Guinea after 2014 and 2018. At around 10am, Papua New Guinea held a grand welcome ceremony at the pier. Nearly 300 people, including military and political officials from Papua New Guinea, staff from the Chinese Embassy in Papua New Guinea, as well as local residents, overseas Chinese, and representatives of Chinese funded institutions, welcomed them at the dock. After the welcome ceremony, the hospital ship medical team went to medical institutions such as Port Moresby General Hospital to conduct site surveys and layout work for pre departure medical services, and triage and transport some patients who need surgery onto the ship. Surgical treatment will be carried out in a timely manner according to the condition. During the visit, in addition to providing medical services to local residents, the hospital ship will also hold a deck reception. The mission commander will visit key military and political officials in Papua New Guinea, and the mission officers and soldiers will have a friendly basketball game with the Papua New Guinea Defense Forces. They will also visit the China Papua New Guinea Friendship School Butuka Academy, visit the Basilsk Naval Base, and conduct medical academic exchanges at the University of Papua New Guinea School of Medicine.
