In early April, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with relevant departments, officially announced the mandatory national standard "Technical Specification for Safety of Mobile Power Banks" (GB 47372-2026). The Technical Specification sets a 12-month transition period and will be officially implemented on April 1, 2027. It will play an important role in regulating the mobile power market and promoting industrial upgrading and development. The Technical Specifications further strengthen the safety requirements for mobile power banks from the following five aspects. One is to strengthen the intrinsic safety requirements of batteries, clarify and enhance the safety protection capabilities of mobile power banks in abuse scenarios such as high temperature, overcharging, and compression, and add battery needle puncture tests to reduce safety risks from the source. The second is to add lithium separation detection after cyclic aging to reduce the risk of internal short circuits in mobile power banks after long-term use. The third is to propose intelligent management requirements, which not only clarify the real-time monitoring requirements for key parameters such as battery voltage and temperature, but also require products to have abnormal information storage and reading functions, effectively safeguarding consumers' right to know. The fourth is to promote product uniqueness code management, which requires mobile power to be marked with an exclusive "ID card number", through which consumers can query core information such as battery brand to improve consumption transparency. The fifth is to strengthen the full process control of production and manufacturing, clarify the requirements for raw material and production process control of mobile power banks, and improve the safety level of mobile power banks from the root. The Technical Specification sets a 12-month transition period. During the transition period, enterprises can choose to implement new or existing standards on their own, providing sufficient space for a smooth transition of the industry. After the transition period ends, enterprises must engage in the production, manufacturing, and sales of products in accordance with the Technical Specifications. The setting of the transition period reserves time for the research and development, design, and production line adjustment of new products for enterprises, avoiding industry fluctuations and waste of social resources, and ensuring that products that comply with the Technical Specifications can be timely and orderly launched into the market after the standard is officially implemented, ensuring sufficient supply. After the implementation of the Technical Specifications, consumers who have previously purchased mobile power products that have passed CCC certification can still carry them on board normally, provided that they meet the current relevant regulations in the civil aviation field.
