In April, Macao will launch a series of rich activities such as cultural and sports carnival, national reading activity week, cultural and artistic exhibitions, etc., to promote the construction of a vibrant Macao, a cultural Macao, and a happy Macao. On April 1st, the Cultural Bureau and Sports Bureau of the Macau SAR Government held a press conference at the Macau Cultural Centre to introduce the relevant activities. The first appearance of the 2026 International Table Tennis Federation Singles World Cup started on March 30th and will last until April 5th. Nearly a hundred table tennis players from around the world gathered in Haojiang to challenge for the men's and women's singles championship. The 3rd Macau International Comedy Festival will be held from April 9th to 12th in Macau and Hengqin, covering four core sections: report performances, "Joyful Park" immersive music lakeside show, industry summit, and film and drama exhibitions. The comedy festival will fully unleash the synergistic effect of Australian music, allowing audiences to travel between the two places and experience the charm of cross-border comedy activities. From April 11th to 12th, the Cultural Bureau and the Sports Bureau will work together to hold a cultural and sports carnival at the Nanwan Lake Water Sports Center and multiple scenic spots and communities, including cultural and sports exhibitions, interactive experience projects, etc., to showcase Macau's cultural heritage and promote sports. In response to the national "Regulations on the Promotion of National Reading" and "World Book Day", the Cultural Bureau and other departments, as well as multiple civil society organizations, will hold the "Open Macau 2026 National Reading Activity Week" from April 20th to 26th, promoting diverse reading activities to help build a "City of Reading". In mid to late April, cultural and museum enthusiasts in Macau will also feast their eyes. The "Great Han Meteorology - Exhibition of Fine Cultural Relics of the Han Dynasty in Xuzhou" and "Echoes of Mountains and Rivers - Exhibition of Ming and Qing Mountains and Rivers from the National Museum of China" will be exhibited at the Macau Museum and the Macau Museum of Art respectively, introducing the audience to appreciate the vast and extensive Chinese culture together. Director of the Cultural Bureau, Leung Wai Man, stated at the press conference that the series of activities in April is a new attempt at cultural and sports cooperation. Culture is the soul and heritage of a city, and sports are the vitality and cohesion of a city. We hope to inject new momentum into Macau's "City of Performing Arts" and "City of Sports" through the integration of culture and sports. (New Society)
