It is reported that the Phase V project of Nansha Port Area in Guangzhou Port is one of the 102 major projects included in the national "14th Five Year Plan" and a major construction project of the world-class port cluster in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. It carries the important mission of implementing national strategies and promoting regional coordinated development. The total investment estimate of the project is 14.447 billion yuan, which will construct 4 berths for 200000 ton container ships, 15 berths for 5000 ton container barges, and 5 berths for workboats. The annual designed throughput capacity will reach 6.7 million TEUs. The preliminary project will commence on August 8, 2025, and upon completion, it will collaborate with the existing container terminal in Nansha Port Area to further consolidate and enhance the status of Guangzhou Port as a container mainline port, enhance the function of Guangzhou as an international shipping hub, and enhance the overall international competitiveness of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area port cluster. Currently, Nansha Port Area has developed into the core port area of Guangzhou Port and the core carrier area for the construction of an international shipping hub in Guangzhou.
