The 2026 Forum on New Quality Productivity and Cross border Finance was held in Luxembourg on the 24th. More than a hundred participants from the political, business, and academic circles of China and Europe attended and conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as high-quality development of the Chinese economy, cultivation of new quality productivity, and cross-border financial cooperation between China and Europe. They called on China and Europe to strengthen dialogue and cooperation, expand the space for emerging industries and cross-border financial cooperation. Luxembourg's Finance Minister Gilles Roth said at the forum that geopolitical, technological, security, and supply chain factors are reshaping the global economy, finance, and even people's lives, making it even more necessary for Europe and China to strengthen dialogue. He called on Europe and China to uphold the spirit of cooperation, shared responsibility, and openness, and to transform shared opportunities into lasting results through common growth. Luigi Gambaldera, President of the China Europe Digital Association, stated that in order for Europe to truly enhance its industrial competitiveness, accelerate green transformation, and promote modernization of manufacturing, it must develop more constructive relations with China and strengthen cooperation with Chinese enterprises in key areas. Jacques Bortuzo, Chairman of the China Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, said that China is already at an advanced level in many fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing. Europe should strengthen cooperation with China in order to avoid falling behind in the new round of industrial competition. Liu Jiandong, President of the EU China Chamber of Commerce, stated that the foundation of China EU economic and trade cooperation is profound, and both sides have broad common interests in areas such as green transformation, digital economy, and technological innovation. The future cooperation space is vast, and Chinese enterprises in Europe are also making positive contributions to the development of many industries in Europe. This forum is jointly organized by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Bank of China (Europe) Limited. During the forum, the "Innovation Consortium of the Co plastic Industry - Report on Cooperation and Development of New Quality Productivity among Chinese Enterprises in Europe" was also released. The report believes that China and Europe have strong complementarity in emerging industries such as new energy vehicles, clean energy, and intelligent manufacturing, and there is huge room for cooperation. However, they also face challenges such as EU policy uncertainty. The report calls on both sides to overcome interference together, promote the continuous improvement of the business environment in the EU, work together to build an industrial innovation consortium, and continuously expand cooperation achievements.
