From the emergence of new professions such as drone route planners, robot product managers, and agricultural solution engineers, to the rise of entrepreneurial paradigms such as "one person companies," emerging technologies such as AI (artificial intelligence) and drones are accelerating the reshaping of the professional landscape, and also putting forward new requirements for workers' job skills. What new employment opportunities will be created by the transformation of technological paradigms empowered by emerging technologies? How is it different from traditional professions? How to better adapt to the AI era? New professions are rapidly emerging on the rooftops of branches in Bao'an District, Shenzhen, Guangdong. Drones loaded with goods are taking off one after another, shuttling between city buildings along predetermined routes. Behind the safe and orderly flight of these drones is the contribution of 24-year-old SF Express drone route planner Xue Haoran. Having only been in the industry for two years, he has become a key member of the team, traveling around every corner of the city with instruments every day, surveying the terrain, planning routes, and using his footsteps to outline precise trajectories for low altitude passages. Drones are one of the most significant growth tracks in the low altitude economy. In recent years, with the rapid expansion of drone scale and the continuous expansion of application scenarios, the demand for related positions has continued to increase, and Xue Haoran's drone route planner is one of them. Our job is to plan the route reasonably and then let the drone operator carry out the specific flight. ”Xue Haoran said, "After receiving the route planning task, we will conduct on-site inspections of the takeoff and landing sites, including the surrounding environment and whether there are any special risks. After meeting the requirements, we will use map operations to make a route plan with both ends as the starting and ending points. In the middle, we need to pay attention to avoiding densely populated areas and areas that may have risks." The planned route is not the final version yet, and we will need to use drones to conduct real-time on-site inspections, conduct meeting reviews, evaluate whether the route is reasonable, and finally determine it after passing. Compared to traditional logistics, we need to pay more attention to the requirements of the airspace air traffic control department, "said Xue Haoran. In the field of robotics, embodied intelligence is driving the development of humanoid robots towards higher autonomy and stronger human-machine collaboration capabilities, gradually entering real application scenarios. Wang Hongyang, who lives in the same city as Xue Haoran, is a robot product manager for Elephant Robotics. With the maturity of artificial intelligence and robotics technology, the industry not only needs to 'create machines', but also needs to' make machines usable ', which has given birth to our profession. ”Wang Hongyang said, "Our core task is how to transform complex embodied intelligence technologies into tools that ordinary people can easily learn, combine, and innovate." In order to ensure the smooth "birth" of the product, Wang Hongyang and his colleagues need to coordinate the entire process from structural design, electronic engineering to front-end interface design, to ensure that every step of the product from drawings to mass production meets expectations. Qu Hongtao is a humanoid robot data collector at Beijing Zhongke Huiling Robot Technology Co., Ltd. To be honest, when I saw the words' humanoid robots' and 'data collection', my mind was filled with images from science fiction movies. So, out of curiosity, I decided to explore further, "said Qu Hongtao. From his initial attempt at part-time work to now making it a part of his career plan, Qu Hongtao has transformed from an observer to a "cornerstone" builder in the wave of artificial intelligence. Previously, AI was more focused on processing text and images, but in order for humanoid robots to enter the physical world, they must understand complex physical rules, light and shadow changes, and human movements. This requires massive and high-quality real-world data as a bridge. Humanoid robot data collectors are the paving personnel of this bridge, their job is to "translate" the real world into language that machines can understand. How to transform abstract algorithm requirements into concrete collection actions? This requires a strong ability to empathize, not only with humans but also with machines, "said Qu Hongtao. At first, he worked as a pilot training instructor in the company, and with the promotion and application of drones in agriculture, his role also shifted to that of an agricultural solution engineer. The core of traditional agricultural technicians' work is experience and manpower, performing manual operations on fixed plots of land. The work of agricultural solution engineers revolves around "data" and "systems", thinking about how to make drones, as intelligent terminals, execute agricultural tasks more accurately and automatically. Essentially, it is to code and process agricultural knowledge. Cheng Zhongyi feels that this job has kept him at the forefront of products and industries, and he has felt the great sense of achievement that technology has truly changed ancient industries. We are not serving a single plot of land, but designing intelligent standard solutions by analyzing massive operational data, summarizing the common needs of different crops and regions, "said Cheng Zhongyi. Compared with traditional hardware product managers, Wang Hongyang believes that the biggest difference in his profession lies in the "interdisciplinary complexity" and "ecological thinking". Traditional hardware products may focus more on the implementation of a single function, and we not only need to consider the reliability of the mechanical structure, but also the processing of sensor data, motion control algorithms, and the friendliness of human-computer interaction. In addition, we emphasize 'ecology'. We do not want users to only buy a 'toy', but to provide a 'key to creation'. For example, users can use the rich shared accessory ecology of robots to freely combine various applications such as dancing, drawing, and sorting, "said Wang Hongyang. When it comes to a sense of achievement, Wang Hongyang said that watching the robot product he is responsible for grow from an early prototype to a teaching and research platform material for hundreds of universities and institutions around the world, the excitement and sense of achievement are incomparable to any performance indicator. This has made me deeply realize that our work is not just about making products, but also about 'sowing seeds' and inspiring young people's interest and creativity in technology. ”Wang Hongyang said. The job of a humanoid robot data collector may seem boring to some, but in the eyes of Qu Hongtao, it is not like that. I feel like I've gone from being a simple executor to a 'data expert,' "said Qu Hongtao." The sense of achievement when I see robots successfully completing tasks through the data I've collected is indescribable. I feel like I'm not just working, but also participating in an experiment about the future. "Of course, while having a sense of achievement, challenges are inevitable. The work of agricultural solution engineers is usually in the forefront of agriculture, such as silkworm breeding and aquatic feeding, with limited practical experience and highly exploratory work. Last year, my personal flight mileage reached 57000 kilometers, covering the whole country, in order to find more agricultural production processes that can be modified by drones. ”Cheng Zhongyi said. In Wang Hongyang's view, many robots currently remain at the level of "executing instructions", lacking emotions and warmth, and their roles are "translators" and "connectors". The biggest challenge facing one's profession is how to make robots truly 'understand' humans, so as to achieve natural and warm human-machine interaction. We need to translate cutting-edge AI algorithms and hardware capabilities into temperature sensitive features that users can perceive. For example, we are exploring how to enable robots to establish a more natural connection with users through eye contact, movement, and voice, rather than just cold robotic arm movements. ”Wang Hongyang said. The new track is constantly expanding, and the figures of new professionals can be seen everywhere nowadays. Last year, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced 17 new occupations and 42 new job types, setting a record for the highest number of newly added job types in history. In the future, with the growth of emerging industries such as commercial aerospace, low altitude economy, and deep-sea technology, as well as the development of future industries such as biomanufacturing, quantum technology, embodied intelligence, and 6G, the types of new professions will continue to enrich. Wang Hongyang is full of confidence in the future. He told reporters that the current career development path is very broad, ranging from junior engineers and product managers to product line leaders, department directors, and even higher-level managers. In the future, with the popularization of embodied intelligence, more specialized positions will emerge, such as robot experience designers, AI trainers, strategists, robot delivery engineers, and so on. The robotics industry is on the eve of an explosion, with new AI modeling and sensor technologies emerging every day. Our job is to stand at the forefront of these technologies and constantly explore how to apply them to practical scenarios. For example, how to empower robots with stronger understanding and planning capabilities through current large-scale modeling technology is a direction we are actively exploring. ”Wang Hongyang said that this profession is full of unknowns and challenges, and it is precisely these challenges that make it full of charm. At this year's National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Huang Sanwen, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, stated that the comprehensive mechanization rate of crop cultivation and harvesting in China has reached 76.7%, and drones have become a "new agricultural tool", making it easier and more efficient for farmers to farm. This also reflects that the agricultural drone industry has entered the stage of large-scale and mainstream application. Our job as agricultural solution engineers is to continuously adapt this' new agricultural tool 'to new scenarios and unleash new efficiency, thereby contributing specific technical paths and practical solutions to enhance the level of national agricultural mechanization and intelligence. ”Cheng Zhongyi said. Experts say that new professions and job types create more high-quality employment opportunities, providing workers with broader and more diverse career development paths. The respondents have their own thoughts on what skills and qualities are needed for talents who want to and will soon engage in new professions. It is important to cultivate systematic thinking, while maintaining curiosity and hands-on ability, and to try and create more. Don't be afraid of failure, every hands-on practice is the best validation of theoretical knowledge. ”Wang Hongyang said. In Xue Haoran's view, technology is fundamental and requires mastering professional knowledge. In addition, communication skills between people are also very important, and many times we need to communicate and coordinate offline, "said Xue Haoran. Currently, new professions still face many challenges in their practical development, such as the need to establish clear evaluation criteria and an incomplete training system. In this regard, experts suggest that policies should go both ways with the market. On the one hand, supporting standards should be formulated to accelerate the construction of training systems for new professions; On the other hand, it is also necessary to intervene from the education end, promote the cognitive advancement of new professions, and enable more people to understand, learn, and do well.
