By 2030, hydrogen energy will be applied on a large scale in various fields in urban agglomerations

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and three other departments recently issued a notice on the pilot work of comprehensive application of hydrogen energy, proposing that by 2030, hydrogen energy in urban agglomerations will be applied on a large scale in multiple fields, and the average price of terminal hydrogen will be reduced to below 25 yuan per kilogram, striving to be reduced to around 15 yuan per kilogram in some advantageous areas; The number of fuel cell vehicles in China is expected to double compared to 2025, with the goal of reaching 100000 vehicles. Hydrogen energy has three attributes: energy, resources, and energy storage medium. The hydrogen energy industry has high technological content, strong low-carbon attributes, and great development space. Promoting the high-quality development of the hydrogen energy industry will provide important support for the green transformation of the economy, the development of new quality productivity, and the achievement of the "dual carbon" goal. At present, the application of hydrogen energy in China still faces problems such as limited scenarios, shortage of green hydrogen, high prices, and difficulties in storage, transportation, and refueling. The business model has not yet been formed, and market demand needs to be released. It requires continuous efforts and key support from the national level. It is reported that in this pilot program, city clusters will be selected through the "unveiling and leading" method, and six lists will be set up, including fuel cell vehicles, green ammonia alcohols, hydrogen based chemical raw material substitution, hydrogen metallurgy, hydrogen blending combustion, and innovative application scenarios. City clusters can focus on selecting scenarios with high technological maturity, large consumption scale and potential, and good technical and economic feasibility to "unveil" and carry out pilot applications, forming a "1+N+X" hydrogen energy comprehensive application ecology. The notice proposes to expand the application scale by 2030, promote innovation breakthroughs in hydrogen energy application technology, processes, and equipment, achieve iterative upgrades in fuel cells, electrolytic cells, storage and transportation equipment, and materials, promote hydrogen energy as a new economic growth point, and support the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.
