From "fixed support" to "suction on demand", a department of the Xizang Military Region improved the oxygen supply support link to improve the quality and efficiency of duty

In mid spring, the southern foot of the the Himalayas is still covered with ice and snow. In the biting cold wind, a patrol officer and soldier of the Xizang Military Region advanced to a point more than 4000 meters above sea level. Private Zheng Yang suddenly felt chest tightness. He immediately turned on the portable oxygen concentrator he carried with him, and as oxygen was inhaled, the discomfort symptoms quickly eased. This portable and compact oxygen concentrator has now become a standard equipment for the officers and soldiers on patrol and duty. The patrol routes of this department are all above 4000 meters above sea level, with continuous snow capped mountains and sparse oxygen. In the past, officers and soldiers were required to carry oxygen cylinders or oxygen bags during patrols. With the continuous improvement of the high-altitude oxygen supply guarantee system in the whole army, the department has gradually established a three-level oxygen supply guarantee chain based on fixed oxygen production points, supported by mobile oxygen supply equipment, and supplemented by individual portable equipment, promoting the transformation of oxygen supply mode from "fixed guarantee" to "accompanying guarantee", and enabling officers and soldiers to achieve "on-demand inhalation" of oxygen supply. The lightweight of individual oxygen carrying equipment significantly improves the efficiency of duty. The reporter learned during an interview that during a long-distance patrol, officers and soldiers of a certain company continuously climbed over multiple snow capped mountains, relying on the oxygen equipment they carried with them to flexibly absorb oxygen throughout the entire process, helping to efficiently complete the task. "In the past, when carrying out long-distance patrol tasks, we must focus on oxygen inhalation, and the patrol rhythm is easy to be disrupted. Now we can take oxygen at any time during the patrol, which not only ensures better physical function, but also better controls the task process." First class Staff Sergeant Liu Haiqiang told reporters that this "companion support" oxygen inhalation mode ensures that everyone maintains stable oxygen saturation throughout the mission, effectively reducing the incidence rate of acute altitude disease caused by hypoxia. Along with equipment innovation, there is also a shift in the concept of support. In recent years, the department has actively advocated the training concept of "scientific use of oxygen and combination of resistance and tolerance", coordinated the establishment of a diversified oxygen supply system, systematically carried out high-altitude anti hypoxia training, and scientifically improved the high-altitude environmental tolerance of officers and soldiers. From 'fixed support' to 'on-demand suction', and then to 'dynamic anti hypoxia', the scientific and flexible oxygen supply mode has helped high-altitude troops achieve new improvements in their duty capabilities. ”The leader of the department said.
