On March 18th, at the construction site of the Chongqing Kunming high-speed railway located in Songming County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, the first pair of 500 meter long steel rails landed steadily on the ballastless track, and the Yunnan section of the Chongqing Kunming high-speed railway officially began laying tracks. The Chongqing Kunming high-speed railway is an important component of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network, the Beijing Kunming corridor. After the line is put into operation, the travel time from Chongqing to Kunming will be reduced to about two and a half hours. (New Society)
