The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced on the 17th that the air traffic volume at Hong Kong International Airport showed strong performance in February, recording double-digit growth. Among them, the passenger volume reached 5.42 million, an increase of 20.1% year-on-year, the aircraft takeoff and landing volume increased by 10.5% year-on-year to 32100, and the cargo volume increased by 11.6% year-on-year to 361000 tons. The Airport Authority stated that the total passenger volume growth in the first two months of this year was mainly due to the increase in transit/transfer passengers, with a year-on-year increase of 30%. Among them, the growth in passenger volume between mainland China and Southeast Asia is the most prominent. Driven by the Lunar New Year holiday, Hong Kong International Airport experienced a peak in passenger traffic on February 22, with a daily passenger volume exceeding 210000. In terms of freight transportation, the total freight volume in the first two months of this year increased by 8.2% year-on-year to 776000 tons. The overall growth of freight volume is mainly driven by a 17% year-on-year increase in transit freight volume, and a 7% increase in export freight volume. In terms of trade distribution, the increase in freight volume to and from Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East is the most significant. As the aviation network of Hong Kong International Airport continues to expand, the Airport Authority welcomes Chongqing Airlines and Yista Airlines to join in the near future. At the same time, Busan Airlines, Chongqing Airlines, Greater Bay Area Airlines, and Korean Air have successively added new routes within the month, covering Seoul, Chongqing, Fukuoka, Pakse, Phuket, and Busan.
