The "Sketching Shanxi - Spring Art Sketching Creation Tour of 2026" was recently launched in Pingyao County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. More than 60 calligraphy and painting artists from Shanxi, Sichuan, Beijing, Guangdong, Guangxi and other places set Pingyao as the geographical center, delving into the streets and alleys of ancient cities, villages and courtyards, and using their brushes to depict the culture of Shanxi merchants. Hengpo Ancient Village, located in Pingyao County, is more clearly defined by the distant mountains under the warm sun. Artists either sketch distant mountains or meticulously depict branches and leaves, using dynamic brushstrokes to blend the ancient village's artistic conception and showcase its serene and distant nature. It is worth mentioning that many creators, while adhering to traditional techniques, incorporate modern aesthetic elements, making the ancient style and contemporary atmosphere complement each other on the canvas. Every time I write in Pingyao, it is a dialogue with history and a communication with the earth. Sketching is not just about sketching, but about feeling with heart, rooting and refining.
