Global governance initiative injects stability into the world

2026-03-16

The 13th Baku Global Forum recently held a themed seminar on "China and Global Governance Initiative". Attendees from multiple countries believe that China's proposed global governance initiative injects stability into a world intertwined with turmoil. Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikhail Jabarov said that Azerbaijani President Aliyev witnessed the proposal of the Global Governance Initiative during his attendance at the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, and Azerbaijan supports this initiative. He believes that the existing international order is facing severe challenges, and China has provided solutions to maintain global stability. Former Slovenian President Borut Pahor said that through global governance initiatives, China is promoting reforms in international organizations and order, allowing more countries in the global South to gain a voice. He pointed out that China is not involved in any form of conflict, demonstrating a high degree of stability and predictability, and is an important pillar of world stability. Eldo Alipov, Director of the Uzbekistan Presidential Institute for Strategic and Cross Regional Studies, said that unlike the so-called "rule-based order" of some countries, global governance initiatives can better consolidate broad consensus. China is committed to upholding the principles that the international community follows together, rather than pursuing its own interests. Joseph Mondel, former director of the China Capability Center at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, said that the Global Governance Initiative is a platform based and results oriented governance path that does not draw ideological lines and encourages participation from all parties through flexible mechanisms. As a result, it quickly gained widespread support, especially in countries in the global South, which resonated strongly. Wu Hongbo, former special representative of the Chinese government for European affairs, said that the global governance deficit continues to widen. China's proposed global governance initiative emphasizes the pursuit of sovereign equality, adherence to international rule of law, multilateralism, people-oriented approach, and action oriented approach. It is a firm practice of the purposes and principles of the United Nations and a positive response to the common expectations of the international community. He stated that China welcomes the active participation of the international community in global governance initiatives. (New Society)
