The 51st Geneva International Invention Exhibition was held in Geneva, Switzerland from March 11th to 15th local time. The participating Hong Kong delegation consists of 44 institutions, including universities, research and development centers, technology companies, government departments, and primary and secondary schools. One of the companies' "Tropical Marine Fish Farming Industry Chain Plan" won the overall championship of the event. The Development Bureau of the Special Administrative Region Government and its subordinate departments have won 36 awards. Among them, the tracked all terrain channel detection robot "Versatile Explorer" project won the Saudi Arabia Innovation Excellence Award from the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is the first time that a special administrative region government department has received this honor. The robot's innovative multi track drive system enables it to operate stably in complex terrains. It can synchronously collect photogrammetric information and point cloud data, automatically construct 3D models of drainage facilities, and can also be equipped with other sensors such as gas detectors to monitor air quality in enclosed spaces. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) have developed interdisciplinary research on "artificial intelligence+" under the development framework of "integration of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and complementarity of the two schools", actively promoting the landing of scientific research achievements, demonstrating outstanding innovation strength, and winning 62 awards. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Special Administrative Region Government, stated that Hong Kong's scientific research achievements rely on its strong innovation and technology capabilities and talent advantages. The SAR government will continue to invest resources, strengthen talent training, and encourage innovation and research and development. It will also proactively align with the national "15th Five Year Plan" and make every effort to build Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology center, contributing to the country's high-level technological self-reliance and self-improvement. The Geneva International Invention Exhibition was founded in the 1970s and is one of the annual events in the global invention community. At this exhibition, a panel of expert judges reviewed approximately 1000 inventions from 35 countries and regions. (New Society)
