Meteorological and environmental monitoring data shows that due to the significantly higher than usual temperature in many northern regions of China last winter, the flowering period of plants has advanced this year, and the pollen season in many areas has also arrived earlier than in previous years. As the temperature steadily rises in the future, most northern regions will gradually enter the Spring Festival pollen dispersal period, and pollen concentration will continue to be at a high level. Pollen allergy mostly occurs in spring and autumn. In spring, pollen allergy is concentrated from March to May. The allergen is mainly the pollen of cypress, birch, ash tree, French wutong and other plants. Patients with clear pollen allergies should take appropriate measures in advance. It is better to take medication 1-2 weeks in advance to prevent pollen allergy than to take medication after the onset of the disease. It is recommended that patients with severe allergic symptoms and periodic allergies undergo allergen testing. After understanding which pollen allergies you are allergic to, you can take targeted preventive measures. In case of seasonal pollen allergy, nasal glucocorticoids (budesonide nasal spray, mometasone furoate nasal spray, etc.) can be used 1~2 weeks before the allergy season. They can reduce allergic inflammation of nasal mucosa, reduce the sensitivity of nasal mucosa, prevent and alleviate sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion and other symptoms. When symptoms appear, second-generation antihistamines such as loratadine and cetirizine can be taken orally. These drugs can selectively block the binding of histamine to receptors, thereby reducing allergic symptoms. In March, cypress began to pollinate, followed by ash tree, wutong tree, birch and other trees from April to May. If a patient is allergic to pollen from one of the trees, they may experience allergic symptoms during the pollination period of that tree; If a patient is allergic to pollen from several trees at the same time, the duration of symptoms will be prolonged. Therefore, the preventive medication cycle should cover the entire pollen season, and generally needs to wait for 1 to 2 weeks after the pollen season ends before stopping the medication. To alleviate allergy symptoms in daily life, try to minimize going out during pollen dispersal and wear masks and goggles when going out. After returning home, wash your face, hair, nasal cavity, and change your outer clothing in a timely manner to remove allergens adsorbed on your clothes and body surface. When driving outside, do not open the window and choose the internal circulation ventilation mode. Try not to open windows during home time and use air purifiers or fresh air systems in conjunction. If allergic symptoms still occur after doing these tasks, medication should be taken under the guidance of a doctor for treatment. (New Society)
