The Hong Kong International Film Festival Association announced on the 10th that the 50th Hong Kong International Film Festival will be held from April 1st to 12th. The event is themed "Beyond 50, Dare to Think about the Future" to commemorate the Hong Kong International Film Festival's half century journey. Wang Yingwei, Chairman of the Hong Kong International Film Festival Association, stated that 50 years is a significant milestone. For a long time, the association has been committed to promoting the development of the film industry, facilitating cultural exchanges in film and television, and has achieved fruitful results. I hope to continue using light and shadow art as a link, establish a new starting point, and embark on a new chapter in the film industry. It is reported that the opening film of this year's film festival is "We Are Not Strangers" directed by Chen Zheyi. This film is the first Singaporean film to be nominated for the main competition section of the Berlin Film Festival, and will also be released simultaneously with two other works from Chen Zheyi's "Growth Trilogy" for the first time in Hong Kong. The 12 day film festival will select over 215 outstanding films from 71 countries and regions, including 11 world premieres, 4 international premieres, and 49 Asian premieres. During the film festival, over 320 screening events will be held, where audiences can have live exchanges with many international filmmakers such as mainland directors Jia Zhangke and Chen Kaige, French actress Juliette Binoche, and more. In addition, the organizer has specially planned the "Beyond 50: Hong Kong International Film Festival Golden Jubilee Exhibition" this year, which revisits the important moments of the festival's contribution to the development of Hong Kong's film culture over the past 50 years through precious photos, literature materials, and sharing with filmmakers. The film festival will also collaborate with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to present the Asian premiere of the "In the Mood for Love" film concert. (New Society)
