The Hong Kong Monetary and Financial Research Centre, which is responsible for research work under the Hong Kong Institute of Finance, released a report on the 10th stating that the growth momentum of the Hong Kong family office (referred to as "family office") industry is strong. In addition to traditional wealth management, the demand for charitable causes, impact investments, and risk management strategies in the home-based industry is increasing, becoming a major growth area in the future. This report, titled "Beyond Wealth: Promoting the Development of Hong Kong Family Office Ecosystem through Charity, Impact Investment, and Risk Management," explores the development trends of the Hong Kong family office industry based on surveys and interviews with the industry. The report shows that 91% of respondents stated that they have invested in the Hong Kong market, with confidence mainly derived from Hong Kong's sound regulatory framework, free flow of capital, mature financial market, and competitive tax system. The report points out that the home-based industry will deepen its charitable and impact investment layout in the coming years, with the proportion of respondents participating in charitable activities expected to increase to 64%, and the proportion participating in impact investment expected to increase to 43%. This trend is in line with the global development pace. Meanwhile, the demand for risk management products and services in the home office industry is expected to continue to rise. The report provides recommendations for the industry to further optimize the Hong Kong home office ecosystem, including making better use of the cross industry support network within the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting the development of private social investment, assisting home offices in achieving sustainable financial returns while balancing environmental and social benefits, and strengthening the cultivation of relevant professional talents.
