The opening ceremony of the second National Foreign Arbitration Talent Training Course (Hong Kong) jointly organized by the Hong Kong International Legal Talent Training Institute and the Ministry of Justice was held in Hong Kong on the 9th. The training course aims to promote cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China in the field of international dispute resolution, and enhance the ability of mainland enterprises to handle dispute resolution in the process of "going global". At the opening ceremony, the Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Lin Dingguo, pointed out that as the only common law jurisdiction in the country, Hong Kong has a sound arbitration legal framework and a judicial system that supports arbitration. The Arbitration Ordinance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is based on the well-known Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, closely following practical development. Hong Kong gathers world-class arbitration institutions and a large number of experienced arbitration practitioners, and is highly praised in the international arbitration community. The Department of Justice is studying the revision of the Arbitration Ordinance to maintain the long-term competitiveness of Hong Kong's arbitration law. It is reported that this training course lasts for two weeks and is taught in English. It is divided into two groups, with each group receiving one week of training. The instructors include senior legal professionals and international arbitration experts from Hong Kong, members of the Hong Kong International Legal Talent Training Expert Committee, and representatives from the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The training course will introduce the practical operation of international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration to about 80 participants, including legal advisors, senior arbitrators, lawyers, and arbitration practitioners from mainland enterprises, through lectures, discussions, exchanges, and visits.
