Recently, the annual conference on standardization of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence was held in Beijing. At the meeting, the "Standard System for Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence (2026 Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Standard System") was released. This is the first top-level standard design in China that covers the entire industry chain and lifecycle of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence, marking a new stage of standardized development for related industries. It is reported that the standard system was developed by the Standardization Technical Committee for Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (hereinafter referred to as the "Standardization Committee"), which organized more than 120 research institutes, enterprises, and industry user units in the field. It includes six parts: basic commonality, neuromorphic and intelligent computing, limb and component, whole machine and system, application, and safety ethics. Basic common standards are universal and guiding standards and norms, providing compliance guarantees for technological evolution and development; The standards for neuromorphic and intelligent computing cover key standards such as embodied intelligence "big and small brains" and intelligent computing, regulating the entire lifecycle of data and the full chain technology of model training and deployment; The standards for humanoid limbs and components include humanoid torso, arms and legs, dexterous hands, as well as key standards for execution, perception, and communication unit modules, providing standardized guidance for the development of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence modularization. In addition, the whole machine and system standards are key standards for embodied intelligence, system software, and software hardware collaboration, providing normative basis for the integration and fusion of software and hardware of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence; Application standard specifications for the development, operation, and maintenance of humanoid robots and embodied intelligent agents in different application scenarios; The safety ethics standards run through the entire lifecycle of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence industries, providing safety and compliance guarantees for technological evolution and development. According to data previously released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, there will be over 140 domestic enterprises producing humanoid robots by 2025, with over 330 humanoid robot products released. Attendees stated that the current technological conditions for the development of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence are at a critical stage of moving from "1" to "10", and the industry has entered a window period of large-scale development. Conducting research on key standard projects is an inevitable requirement for building a solid foundation for the industry and ensuring its long-term stable development. This annual meeting is the first annual meeting of the Standards Committee since its establishment in December 2025. Next, the Standardization Committee will work together with government agencies, industry enterprises, research institutes, and universities to jointly promote the development of industry standards within the framework of the standard system. With standards as the guide, we will advance the high-quality development of the industry. (New Society)
