Can 'AI Takes Care of Children' really liberate parents? Companionship is irreplaceable

I want to hear a story. Mom has something else to do, let AI tell you. ”Dad, how do I do this question? ”Go ask AI. "During the winter vacation, such conversations were played out in many families. Products such as "AI nannies" and "intelligent educational assistants" are entering the world of minors at an unprecedented speed and depth. Many parents sigh that this omnipotent and always present "digital tutor" has become a good helper to liberate themselves. Is "AI leading children" and "AI teaching assistants" reliable? Can parents really be liberated? In 2025, a survey conducted by the China Youth Research Center on more than 8500 minors in seven provinces across the country showed that more than 20% of children have the inertia of "wanting to rely on AI and not thinking on their own", more than 20% tend to "only chat with AI and not want to communicate with real people", and more than 20% "feel anxious due to excessive use of AI". Psychological research has shown that the establishment of early secure attachment relationships affects a person's lifelong mental health and personality shaping. Children with immature minds often learn to take action through observation, express themselves through listening, explore through questioning, and love others through being cared for. Once accustomed to AI's infinite answers and unconditional agreement, children may develop a self-centered tendency, find it difficult to accept different viewpoints, reduce their willingness to think actively and read deeply, and even affect their ability to interact with the real world. Imagine how a child can make friends in real life when they become accustomed to conversing with AI that responds to every request and can only accept communication partners who cater to obedience? How to integrate into the collective? When children become accustomed to seeking advice from AI that always answers questions and can only deal with questions that have already been answered, how can they think independently in the future? How to establish oneself in society? Moreover, the current "AI+education" is still in its early stages of development, and its Q&A lacks comprehensive and accurate knowledge system support, as well as data accumulation to support creative responses. Handing over immature children to imperfect technological systems may seem like liberating parents, but in reality, it is a partial lack of education; Seemingly empowered by technology, it may actually affect children's growth. Excessive reliance on "AI mentoring" and "AI teaching assistants" reflects the parenting mentality of some parents who are "trying to save trouble": on the one hand, they excessively pursue knowledge imparting and expect AI to solve complex educational problems with just one click, but ignore the indispensable emotional interaction; On the other hand, some parents view parent-child education as a burden and attempt to "outsource" the guidance and supervision that should have been done by themselves to AI, in order to seek liberation from parenting responsibilities. Education is like a tree shaking a tree, a cloud pushing a cloud, and a soul awakening a soul. It is not simply about information transmission and one-way supervision and management. Children's growth requires not only imparting knowledge, but also emotional connection, guiding values, and inspiring personality. This parent-child relationship, consisting of hugs, communication, and companionship, possesses educational power that cannot be simulated by current AI, and a life demonstration that cannot be replaced by current AI. Exploring the phenomenon of "AI leading children" and "AI teaching assistants" is not a denial of their educational value, but a reminder not to slide towards the misuse of technology that puts the cart before the horse, and to avoid responsibility evasion under the pretext of "instrumental rationality". Completely prohibiting children from accessing AI is neither necessary nor practical. In fact, innovative models such as "Museum AI Explanation" and "Oral AI Practice" can help children see a broader world and assist parents in becoming better guides. Only when the whole society places AI applications within the framework of humanistic care, empowering rather than replacing parent-child education, can we cultivate the next generation with both scientific literacy and humanistic spirit. After all, the algorithm of love is far more accurate than AI algorithms, and the companionship of parents is far more precious than AI companionship. (New Society)
