From the Liaoning ship to the Fujian ship, China's aircraft carrier industry has been moving steadily and vigorously. Nowadays, the Fujian aircraft carrier is cutting through waves with electromagnetic catapults, which not only marks a historic leap in China's aircraft carrier technology, but also demonstrates the pioneering attitude of "leading the way". There are currently no conventional powered aircraft carriers equipped with electromagnetic catapult systems in the world's active aircraft carriers. Why did the Fujian warship dare to "skip class"? Where is it at the forefront of the world's aircraft carrier development map? Military expert Zhang Junshe introduced that the Fujian ship skipped steam catapult and directly used electromagnetic catapult, and the core of achieving this leapfrog development lies in the innovative application of medium voltage DC integrated power system and energy storage technology. The energy conversion efficiency of the medium voltage DC integrated power system carried by the Fujian ship is very high, which can directly drive the electromagnetic catapult track, eliminate the mechanical energy conversion link, simplify the structure, and significantly reduce the failure rate. Supercapacitors have been questioned for solving the problem of pulse power supply in conventional powered aircraft carriers, as they cannot meet the instantaneous high energy consumption requirements of electromagnetic catapults. The supercapacitor energy storage technology adopted by Fujian Ship Innovation has a short charging time and can independently bear pulse loads, which is in line with avoiding impact on the main engine power system.
