February 10th this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria. From the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971 to the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2005, and then upgrading to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2024, China Nepal relations have achieved a leapfrog development. For 55 years, China and Nepal have always respected and treated each other equally, forging a path of unity, self-improvement, and win-win cooperation. China and Nepal are good friends of mutual trust and assistance. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the two sides have maintained close exchanges at all levels and in various fields, continuously consolidating strategic mutual trust and firmly supporting each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. China firmly supports Nepal's efforts to maintain national unity, peace, stability, and social peace, and supports Nepal in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. Nigeria firmly adheres to the One China principle, appreciates China's great power responsibility and leadership, and thanks China for providing strong support for Nigeria's economic and social development. Both sides work closely together on the international and regional stage, jointly safeguarding the common interests of developing countries and becoming an important force for solidarity and cooperation among countries in the global South. China and Nepal are good partners for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. The economic advantages and demands of China and Nepal complement each other, and pragmatic cooperation is full of resilience and vitality. Cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, finance, manufacturing, infrastructure, and talent cultivation has yielded fruitful results. A series of landmark cooperation projects, such as the Lekki Deepwater Port, Zonglu Hydropower Station, AKK Natural Gas Pipeline, and Abuja Large Water Supply Project, have injected strong momentum into Nigeria's economic and social development. By 2025, the bilateral trade volume between China and Nepal will exceed 28 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of over 28%; China's direct investment in Nepal was 690 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 103%. Nigeria remains China's largest engineering contracting market, second largest export market, and major investment destination in Africa. In recent years, the two countries have jointly implemented a large number of exemplary and strategic cooperation projects within the framework of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation, constantly creating new growth points for cooperation. China and Nepal are good brothers with a shared understanding of the people. The cultural exchanges between the two countries are diverse and exciting, with increasingly deep interactions in fields such as education, culture, art, youth, and women. Both sides jointly held a series of brand activities such as "Happy Spring Festival", "At the Same Time in the World", "China Nepal Film Festival", "China Nepal Culture and Tourism Festival", etc., to nourish the hearts and minds of the two peoples through the spring breeze and rain, and continuously promote the connection of hearts, emotions, and strength between the two peoples. Traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts are widely popular in Nigeria, and learning Chinese has become a trend. There have been over 5000 Nigerian students studying in China for several consecutive years. Two universities in Nigeria have established Confucius Institutes, 15 "Chinese Corners" have been set up in public high schools in Abuja, and the audience of the "Hello! China" program on the Nigerian Federal Radio has exceeded 7 million. These exchanges and collaborations have built bridges of friendship between the two peoples. The exchange and mutual learning of civilizations is an inexhaustible driving force for the progress of human civilization and the development of world peace. The Chinese civilization has lasted for five thousand years, nurturing the vast wisdom of "sharing beauty and harmony, and achieving great harmony in the world"; The integration of diverse ethnic cultures in Nigeria has painted a magnificent picture of "unity of diversity and harmonious coexistence". The spiritual core and cultural heritage of "harmony in diversity, tolerance and coexistence" are the solid foundation for the enduring friendship between the two countries. Recalling the turbulent times of the past, China and Nepal have jointly forged a profound friendship that transcends mountains and seas, written a wonderful chapter of common development, and established a successful model of South South cooperation. Standing at a new historical starting point, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Nepal is moving forward with a vigorous momentum, ushering in unprecedented broad prospects and opportunities of the times. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the opening of diplomatic relations between China and Africa and the "China Africa Cultural Exchange Year". China and Nepal will take this opportunity to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, work together to promote modernization, build a high-level China Nepal community with a shared future, seek benefits for the two peoples, add new colors to China Africa cooperation, seek common ground for the people of the world, and make greater contributions to promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
