The opening ceremony of the 2026 "Happy Spring Festival · Minnan Culture" Gala and the "Spring and Horse Leaping · Spring Festival Culture Exhibition" was recently held at the China Cultural Centre in Singapore. More than 200 representatives from various sectors of China and Singapore gathered together to welcome the Chinese New Year. Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, Cao Zhongming, stated in his speech that culture is a bridge that promotes people to people communication and affinity between China and Singapore, and is also a deep driving force for maintaining the sustainable development of bilateral relations. The Spring Festival has a unique and profound significance as it carries people's common longing for a better life. This celebration and cultural exhibition will not only evoke cultural resonance among the Chinese and Singaporean people, but also add a festive atmosphere to the Lion City Spring Festival. Chen Huailiang, Director of the Research Office of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Center, stated that as a member of the board of directors of the Chinese Cultural Center, he hopes that the center will continue to play a platform role and promote the development of cultural exchanges between China and Singapore to a deeper and broader level. This event also marks the beginning of the 2026 "Happy Spring Festival" series of activities. Kong Yuan, Director of the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Tourism Office, introduced a series of event arrangements and stated that the Centre will continue to strive to create an important platform for cultural exchange and emotional connection between China and Singapore. Sudan, deputy curator of the China National Arts and Crafts Museum (China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum), introduced that "Spring and Mayue Spring Festival Cultural Exhibition" selected nearly 40 representative works of intangible cultural heritage projects, covering Paper Cuttings, New Year pictures, clay sculptures, embroidery, lanterns and other art forms. This event is supported by the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, co hosted by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Center, the China National Arts and Crafts Museum (China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum), the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the China Tourism Office in Singapore.
