On the 6th, the German Federal Statistical Office released data showing that Germany's trade volume with China will reach 253 billion euros in 2025, an increase of about 2.7% from the previous year's 246.3 billion euros. The organization said that by 2025, China will once again become Germany's largest trading partner. Data shows that in 2025, Germany's imports from China will be 171.2 billion euros, and its exports to China will be 81.8 billion euros. During the same period, the trade volume between Germany and the United States was 241.6 billion euros, a decrease of about 4.4% compared to the previous year. Due to the significant impact of US tariff policies, Germany's exports to the US decreased by 9.3% to 146.9 billion euros last year, while imports from the US increased by 2.9% to 94.7 billion euros. Overall, by 2025, Germany's total exports will increase by 1% to 1569.6 billion euros, imports will increase by 4.4% to 1366.9 billion euros, and the trade surplus will decrease by 15.9% to 202.8 billion euros. The German Wholesale and Foreign Trade Association stated on the same day that there are persistent structural weaknesses in German exports, with major challenges including US protectionist tariffs, ongoing geopolitical tensions, and weak global demand. According to data from the German Federal Statistical Office, China has maintained its position as Germany's largest trading partner for eight consecutive years from 2016 to 2023. In 2024, the United States will be Germany's largest trading partner. (New Society)
