On the same day, the reporter learned from the State Forestry and Grassland Administration that in recent years, China has continuously strengthened wetland ecological protection and restoration, with the country's wetland area ranking first in Asia and fourth in the world. Wetland protection has formed a new pattern combining key governance and classified protection. Wetlands are one of the three major ecosystems on Earth, possessing irreplaceable ecological, social, economic, and cultural values. In recent years, China has continuously strengthened the legal guarantee of wetland protection, improved the legal governance system, promulgated and implemented the Wetland Protection Law, and relevant departments have introduced supporting systems to promote wetland restoration. 21 provinces (regions, municipalities) across the country have completed the revision of provincial-level wetland protection regulations. It is reported that China has established and continuously improved a wetland classification management system, designated 82 internationally important wetlands, released 80 nationally important wetlands, and 1208 provincial-level important wetlands. 22 certified international wetland cities, ranking first in the world in terms of quantity; 903 national wetland parks have been established, with about 90% of them open to the public free of charge, attracting approximately 320 million visitors annually. At the same time, China continues to carry out wetland protection and restoration, implementing more than 3800 projects and adding or restoring over 1 million hectares of wetland area; We have implemented a special action for the protection and restoration of mangrove forests and the prevention and control of Spartina alterniflora, creating a total of 9200 hectares of mangrove forests and eliminating 97300 hectares of Spartina alterniflora. Continuously deepening international compliance, proposing a Chinese plan for wetland protection, officially establishing and constructing an international mangrove center with high quality, and increasing the number of interested member countries to 20. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, China will further strengthen the scientific protection, systematic governance, and rational utilization of wetland resources, including focusing on improving the legal and regulatory system, strengthening the background investigation, dynamic monitoring, and early warning of wetland ecosystems, coordinating the implementation of wetland protection and restoration projects, and accelerating the establishment of a sound mechanism for realizing the value of wetland ecological products.
