The "Time Waltz - Dalian Museum Antique Watch Exhibition" was held on January 28th at the Dalian Museum, showcasing 110 antique watches (sets) from multiple countries, vividly depicting the evolution of watches around the world, leading the audience on a journey of time that crosses Eastern and Western civilizations, integrates technology and art. Exhibition curator and director of Dalian Museum, Jiang Ye, said that the first mechanical clock was born in Europe at the end of the 13th century. Subsequently, the mechanical clock manufacturing industry rapidly emerged in countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. From large self ringing clocks in public places, to exquisite mechanical table clocks that decorate homes, to smart and portable pocket watches, clocks not only engrave the order of minutes and seconds, but also quietly reshape the rhythm of human life. In the exhibition, the three piece set of copper gilded enamel figure sculptures made in France in the 19th century, the fireplace clock, attracted many visitors to stop and watch. The fireplace clock was a highly representative timing display in European households at that time, often placed in the center of the fireplace frame in the living room or bedroom. Jiang Ye said that the fireplace clock is centered around the main clock, with candlesticks or decorative bottles on both sides, forming a harmonious and unified three piece set combination, which is not only a practical timer, but also an important part of interior art. Jiang Ye said that human perception and measurement of time have gone through a long exploration process.
