Cambodia successfully achieves the national goal of eliminating malaria by 2025

Cambodian Health Minister Qin La stated on the 27th that Cambodia has successfully achieved the national goal of eliminating malaria, and as of the end of 2025, there have been no new cases of malaria in the country. Qin La made the aforementioned statement at the closing ceremony of the 45th Health Assembly of the Cambodian Ministry of Health held here on the same day. He pointed out that by the end of 2025, there will be no new cases of malaria in Cambodia, and there have been no deaths from malaria since 2018, which fully reflects the efforts of the Cambodian health authorities to eliminate malaria by 2025. On this basis, Cambodia will apply to the World Health Organization for national certification to eliminate malaria. Qin La said that in order to achieve the national goal of eliminating malaria by 2025, the Cambodian Ministry of Health has formulated a detailed work plan and closely cooperated with local authorities and relevant organizations to ensure the sustainability of malaria prevention and control work. He also stated that thanks to the National Anti Cancer Strategy Plan implemented in May 2025, the number of patients in Cambodia who underwent cancer screening and received timely treatment increased last year. Qin La stated at the opening ceremony held the day before that Cambodia's healthcare industry has made significant progress in recent years, with over 35000 professionals providing comprehensive medical care to the entire population.
