The largest single bridge project under construction in Malaysia, the Ruba Cross Sea Bridge, constructed by Chinese enterprises, was completed on the 26th and is expected to be officially opened to traffic in June this year. As a joint project of China and Malaysia to build the "the Belt and Road", the Luba Sea Crossing Bridge Project is located in Sarawak, Malaysia, and is contracted by China Railway Bridge Bureau. The project is 4844 meters long and consists of a south approach bridge, a main channel bridge, and a north approach bridge. The offshore construction volume of the project accounts for 90% of the overall project, and the construction team adopts the "all water no wharf construction" plan according to local conditions, relying on flat barges and independently developed water mixing ships to carry out operations. The terrain where the bridge is located is a funnel-shaped estuary, which is difficult to construct due to factors such as strong waves and surges, complex geological conditions, etc. The project team scientifically allocated manpower and equipment resources, introduced super large pile driving vessels, and developed, manufactured, and improved hydraulic equipment according to local conditions, successfully overcoming multiple construction difficulties and promoting the steady progress of engineering construction. Hu Wei, the project manager of the Ruba Cross Sea Bridge of China Railway Major Bridge Bureau, said that the project technical team spent several months repeatedly checking and optimizing the construction plan, and worked together with the construction team to solve construction problems one by one. It is reported that the completion of the Ruba Cross Sea Bridge will significantly improve the coastal transportation pattern of Sarawak state, significantly shorten regional commuting time, end the long-term dependence of residents on ferry transportation between the two sides of the strait, and inject new impetus into the development of local resources such as oil and gas, agriculture, and tourism.
