The State Council Information Office recently held a press conference to introduce the achievements of industrial and information technology development in 2025. Zhang Yunming, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the industrial and information systems will firmly shoulder the key task of achieving new industrialization. The industrial economy will move forward under pressure and develop towards new and better directions, achieving effective improvement in quality and reasonable growth in quantity. The main target tasks for the whole year have been successfully completed, and we are confident in maintaining a stable and positive trend in the industrial economy in 2026. The real economy is the lifeline of the national economy and the cornerstone of national competitiveness. In 2025, the added value of China's industrial enterprises above designated size will increase by 5.9% year-on-year, and the proportion of manufacturing added value to GDP will remain stable. The scale of the manufacturing industry is expected to remain the world's largest for 16 consecutive years. The total volume of telecommunications services increased by 9.1% year-on-year. The contribution of industry and information technology to economic growth exceeds 40%, effectively playing the role of a "ballast stone". Global artificial intelligence technology is accelerating innovation iteration and deepening integration with various industries and fields. By 2025, the number of artificial intelligence enterprises in China will exceed 6000, and the core industry scale is expected to exceed 1.2 trillion yuan. At present, artificial intelligence applications have covered key industries such as steel, non-ferrous metals, power, and communication, gradually deepening into key links such as product research and development, quality testing, and customer service. In recent years, China has adhered to the moderately advanced construction of information infrastructure, providing strong support for the deep integration and development of the real economy and digital economy, and has built the world's largest and technologically advanced information infrastructure. Xie Cun, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Director of the Information and Communication Development Department, introduced that China has built 4.838 million 5G base stations, and all townships and 95% of administrative villages in the country have access to 5G. The 5G evolution network has covered over 330 cities; 42 Wanka intelligent computing clusters have been built, with an intelligent computing power scale exceeding 1590 EFLOPS (billions of floating point operations per second), ranking among the top in the world and providing strong support for the rapid development of China's artificial intelligence industry. The digital industry is a key support for promoting the deep integration of the real economy and the digital economy. Preliminary calculations show that by the end of 2025, China's digital industry will generate approximately 38.3 trillion yuan in revenue and achieve a profit of 3.1 trillion yuan, with cumulative growth of approximately 39.5% and 48.4% respectively compared to the end of the 13th Five Year Plan period (2020). Zhang Yunming stated that the next step will be to continue to accurately grasp the development trends and laws of the digital industry, accelerate technological innovation and empower applications, strengthen standard guidance and ecological construction, increase policy coordination and factor guarantees, and vigorously promote the high-quality development of the digital industry.
