On January 19th local time, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Paul Chan, arrived in Davos, Switzerland to begin his itinerary at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. In the afternoon of that day, Chen Maobo met with H.E. Said Mohammed Al Sakri, Minister of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman (referred to as "Oman"), to discuss how to promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two places in finance, trade, green transformation, industrial development and other fields. During the meeting, Chen Maobo stated that Oman is transitioning towards a more diversified economic structure, actively promoting green transformation and renewable energy, and further strengthening economic, trade, and investment with China. As a 'super contact', Hong Kong can assist mainland enterprises in collaborating with Hong Kong enterprises to 'go global' and invest locally in Oman, supporting its infrastructure and industrial development. Chen Maobo said that as an international financial center in Asia, Hong Kong can not only provide an ideal financing platform for Omani enterprises, as well as offshore RMB investment and risk management products, but also promote each other in the financial market through the connection of the two capital markets. He welcomes the two stock exchanges and regulatory agencies to explore mutually beneficial cooperation, allowing companies to go public twice or have a second listing in each other's market.
