The World Forum on Frontiers of Sustainable Development was held in Hong Kong on the 19th. This is one of the events in the "2026 IEEE International Conference on Electricity and Energy and Hong Kong Green Energy Week" series, focusing on sustainable energy development and global governance cooperation issues. The forum, with the theme of "Sustainable Development of Green Energy and Digital Passport of Products", brings together representatives from United Nations agencies, international organizations, academia, and industry to explore the deep integration of green energy, digitization, and global governance. Li Pengde, Director of the United Nations Global Centre for Geographic Information Knowledge and Innovation, stated in his speech that technology is a key force driving energy transformation. This Green Energy Week is committed to combining green energy with digital technologies represented by carbon codes and product digital passports, using cutting-edge technology to build a transparent and trustworthy digital management system for energy and carbon assets, and providing feasible solutions for global green transformation. Zhang Chao, Secretary General of the International Identification Code Industry Alliance, stated that the global green and low-carbon transformation process is accelerating, and the product digital passport can help address challenges such as inconsistent standards and missing data. It also provides carbon data certificates that comply with international standards for China's new energy equipment exports. Xing Lei, Director General of the World Green Design Organization, emphasized that the foundation for achieving green development lies in the fundamental transformation of the energy structure. We must address climate change from the source by developing green energy. The new generation of green design products characterized by electrification, intelligence, and low-carbon are reshaping fields such as transportation, construction, and industry. Xue Yongheng, Secretary General of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, stated that Hong Kong has become an important gathering place for global energy technology, talent, and capital, thanks to its unique advantage of "relying on the motherland and connecting the world". Hong Kong's sound legal environment and financial system can provide comprehensive support for green technology from research and development to application. During the forum, the World Institute for Sustainable Development released three results, namely, the "the Belt and Road" Green Energy Cooperation and Development Report, the Global Carbon Price Index Report, and the Annual Assessment Report of the Global Voluntary Emission Reduction Trading Market, to provide reference for global energy governance and carbon market development. The research institute has signed cooperation agreements with three institutions and enterprises to jointly promote the integrated development of green energy and digital technology. The World Institute for Sustainable Development is a non-profit research institution headquartered in Hong Kong, and is also the supporting unit of the Hong Kong Green Energy Week Secretariat.
