According to data released by the Hong Kong SAR Government Companies Registry, as of the end of 2025, the total number of local and relocated companies registered under the Companies Ordinance has increased by 96600 to 1.557 million, reaching a historic high with a growth rate of 6.6%. Statistics show that the total number of newly established local companies and relocated companies in 2025 reached 195300, an increase of 50300 from the previous year, with a growth rate of 34.7%. According to the categories of companies still registered in the company registry by the end of 2025, there are 1.5377 million private companies, 501 to 18300 guarantee companies, and 74 to 1104 public companies. The Companies Registry stated that since the implementation of the company registration system in May 2025, the market response has been positive. As of the end of 2025, more than 420 inquiries and 30 applications have been received, of which 6 have been successfully registered in Hong Kong. In addition, last year a total of 1532 non Hong Kong companies established new business locations in Hong Kong and registered under the Companies Ordinance.
