The Public Security Police Department, Identification Bureau, and Macau Security Forces Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government announced on the 16th that they will continue to work together with the Hong Kong Immigration Department to optimize the convenience measures for customs clearance between Hong Kong and Macau. They have jointly decided to further relax the scope of self-service customs clearance channels between the two places from January 19th. It is reported that from January 19th, permanent residents of Hong Kong and Macau will use each other's self-service customs clearance channels (Hong Kong e-Channel and Macau's traditional two door self-service channel), and the applicable age will be lowered from 11 years old to 7 years old. In conjunction with the above measures, Macau's cooperative inspection self-service channel and iris channel will be simultaneously expanded to apply to Hong Kong permanent residents aged 7 to 10, further enhancing the convenient customs clearance experience for relevant personnel. Starting from January 19th, non permanent residents of the joint venture who are over 18 years old in both places can use local self-service machines to register in advance. After successful registration, they can use each other's self-service clearance channel to enter and exit the country within about 3 hours. The three departments stated that the relevant departments of Hong Kong and Macao will maintain close contact, continue to promote cross-border government affairs, create mutually beneficial customs clearance measures, deepen entry and exit cooperation, and jointly build a high-quality living circle in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
