The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced on the 15th that the passenger volume of Hong Kong International Airport recorded double-digit growth in 2025, reaching 61 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 15%. The aircraft takeoff and landing volume increased by 8.7% year-on-year to 394730, and the cargo volume increased by 2.7% year-on-year to 5.07 million tons. The Airport Authority stated that airport passenger transport continued to perform strongly in December 2025, receiving 5.8 million passengers in a single month, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%. Driven by the peak season of Christmas tourism, the daily passenger volume exceeded 200000 for a total of 8 days in the month. Meanwhile, both inbound and transit/transfer passengers recorded double-digit growth, with particularly significant increases in passenger volume between mainland China, Southeast Asia, and North America. The Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Carrie Lam, stated that the airport added 30 new destinations worldwide last year and added flights on major routes. Throughout the year, we have received approximately 80 awards covering different areas of operation and service, which confirms the professionalism and outstanding performance of the entire airport community. In terms of infrastructure, the tourist bus waiting hall of Terminal 2 at Hong Kong International Airport will be put into use in September 2025. This is the first phase of the expanded Terminal 2 and will help passengers in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area to transfer to international flights via land. The "Transit Parking Lot" service launched in November of the same year provides seamless travel experience for passengers in the Greater Bay Area who drive to Hong Kong International Airport to transfer to international flights.
