Hong Kong Customs joint anti drug operation detected 183 drug cases

On the 14th, Hong Kong Customs announced that a large-scale anti drug operation was carried out at Hong Kong International Airport from October 1st to December 31st last year, with a focus on cracking down on illegal elements using air channels for drug trafficking. During the operation, Hong Kong Customs, together with mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies, cracked 183 drug cases, seized about 1.4 tons of suspected drugs, and arrested 62 suspected suspects. It is reported that during the operation, Hong Kong Customs cooperated with 16 mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies to more effectively track and intercept air drug trafficking activities through close real-time intelligence exchange and joint assessment. The Hong Kong Customs has stated that it has been committed to cracking down on drug trafficking activities at the import, transit, or export levels. It will continue to adjust and deploy in response to changes in drug trafficking trends, deepen cooperation with overseas law enforcement agencies, and combat cross-border drug trafficking activities. According to the Hong Kong Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking dangerous drugs is a serious offense, and upon conviction, the maximum penalty is a fine of HKD 5 million and life imprisonment.
