2026-01-04

By 2025, the number of inbound and outbound passengers and vehicles passing through the Zhuhai Highway Port via the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge will exceed 31.34 million and 6.8 million respectively, an increase of 14.3% and 22.3% year-on-year, setting a new historical high. Since its official opening to the public in October 2018, the port has surpassed the two major barriers of 30 million passenger flows and 6 million vehicle flows in a single natural year for the first time. Data shows that by 2025, the number of Hong Kong and Macao residents entering and leaving the port will exceed 17.97 million, a year-on-year increase of 11%, and the number of single license plate vehicles entering and leaving Hong Kong and Macao will exceed 3.86 million, a year-on-year increase of 25%. The person in charge of the border inspection station of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge introduced that under the promotion of convenient policies such as "Australian vehicles heading north" and "Hong Kong vehicles heading north", the enthusiasm of Hong Kong and Macao residents to drive through the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge to the mainland continues to rise. By 2025, Daqiao Port has broken the record for the highest passenger and vehicle traffic six times, with a daily peak of 170000 passengers and 28000 vehicles. The increase in "southbound" passenger flow is also significant. By 2025, the number of mainland tourists traveling with Hong Kong and Macau tourist visas will exceed 5.59 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%, mainly consisting of "family parent-child travel", "student travel", and "silver haired travel" tourists. With the official implementation of the "Guangdong Bus Southbound" policy, cross-border self driving is expected to attract more mainland residents to travel, consume, and do business in Hong Kong via the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge. As of now, 720 Guangdong private cars have completed the "Guangdong Car Southbound" border inspection filing. (New Society)
