According to news learned by reporters on the 3rd, BYD has surpassed Tesla for the first time in annual sales of pure electric vehicles, becoming the world's number one. The reporter learned from BYD that BYD will sell about 4.6 million new energy vehicles in 2025, including about 2.26 million pure electric vehicles. According to data released by Tesla, the annual delivery volume of Tesla in 2025 is approximately 1.63 million vehicles. In the fourth quarter of 2023, BYD's pure electric vehicles have surpassed Tesla's quarterly sales for the first time, but Tesla still maintains a leading position in annual sales. In 2025, BYD will expand its overseas sales while exploring the Chinese market, with annual overseas sales exceeding 1.04 million vehicles (including passenger cars and pickup trucks), far exceeding the total overseas sales in 2024. The company has performed outstandingly in the European market, actively exploring the Latin American and Southeast Asian markets, with a cumulative overseas footprint covering over 110 countries and regions, becoming one of the fastest-growing Chinese car companies in terms of export growth. At the same time, BYD has also increased its efforts in localized production. At present, BYD's passenger car factories in Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Brazil have been completed and put into operation, and the first European factory in Hungary is also about to be put into operation. The information from BYD's second extraordinary shareholders' meeting in early December 2025 shows that BYD continues to strengthen its technological leadership advantage and is confident in leading the industry development with more heavyweight technologies in the coming years. Zhou Fatao, Secretary General of the Guangdong New Energy Vehicle Industry Association, believes that strengthening the purchasing ability of components to enhance price competitiveness and adopting refined sales strategies in overseas markets are important reasons for BYD's significant increase in overseas sales. Its sales and market performance indicate that China's role in the global new energy vehicle industry is becoming increasingly important, providing better and more diverse choices for global electric vehicle consumers.
