The reporter learned from the "Symposium on Digital Smart Application of Ancient Books and the 11th Joint Release of Ancient Book Digital Resources" held in Beijing on the 30th that 10 ancient book collection units, including the Cultural Bureau Public Library of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, have released a total of 3748 ancient book image resources. The 10 ancient book collection units participating in the 11th joint release of ancient book digital resources are the National Library of China, Tianjin Library, Hebei Provincial Library, Huai'an District Library of Huai'an City, Xiaoshan Library of Hangzhou City, Tianyi Pavilion Museum of Ningbo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Ethnic Minority Ancient Book Protection and Research Center, Yunnan Provincial Library, Gansu Provincial Library, and the Public Library of the Cultural Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. Among them, the Tianjin Library has released a collection of 66 Chaozhou songs, showcasing the traditional folk art performances that have been popular in Chaoshan, Minnan, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese communities in Southeast Asia since the early years of the Qing Dynasty's Daoguang reign; The Public Library of the Cultural Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government has released 404 ancient books in both Chinese and foreign languages, including some from the Liu Chenggan Jiaye Hall and foreign ancient books from the 17th to mid-20th century, from the He Dong Library, the Macao Central Library, and the Deliberation Pavilion Library, opening up a new window for academia to understand the history of Portugal and the Far East. It is worth mentioning that this release highlights the digital resources of ancient books returned from overseas. The National Library of China will release a batch of images and full-text conversion data of Chinese books donated by the Harvard Yenching Library in the "Chinese Ancient Books Resource Library" and "Chinese Ancient Books Intelligent Service Platform" respectively, allowing precious overseas rare books to return to the motherland in digital form and further improve the storage system of Chinese classics. Since 2017, the joint release event of ancient book digital resources led by the National Library of China (National Center for the Protection of Ancient Books) has been held for the eleventh consecutive time. After this release, a total of over 161000 ancient books and special collections of literature image resources will be released nationwide.
