Research institution: Shenzhen and Hong Kong rank among the top ten global cities in terms of competitiveness

On the 30th, institutions such as the Hong Kong China Urban Competitiveness Research Association and the Sino foreign Urban Competitiveness Research Institute jointly released the "2025 24th Global (National) City Competitiveness Ranking", with Shenzhen and Hong Kong ranking 7th and 9th respectively. Among the 50 cities on the global city competitiveness ranking, New York has remained the world's number one for 16 consecutive years, while London and Paris are ranked second and third respectively; Among them are 12 cities in China, including Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Qingdao. According to Gui Qiangfang, President of the Hong Kong China Urban Competitiveness Research Association, global urban competitiveness refers to the comprehensive competitive advantage formed by a city's economic strength, resource potential, cultural connotation, technological power, innovation capability, openness, management effectiveness, and livelihood protection under the guidance of global integration and market economy. It is reported that the evaluation index system consists of 8 primary indicators and 32 secondary indicators, including the urban economic strength index, resource potential index, cultural connotation index, technological power index, innovation capability index, openness tension index, management effectiveness index, and livelihood security index.
