Recently, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development, the Ministry of Water Resources, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, jointly released the fourth batch of ten typical cases of ecological environment damage compensation. This is the first time since the release of the first batch of typical cases in 2020 that multiple departments have jointly collected and published them. The ten typical cases released this time involve important areas such as the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, the Yangtze River Basin, national forest parks, and aquatic germplasm resource protection areas, as well as key work such as cracking down on illegal dumping of hazardous waste, illegal landfilling, and dumping of construction waste. They cover environmental factors such as surface water, soil and groundwater, and grasslands, reflecting the fruitful achievements of the four departments in carrying out ecological environment damage compensation work in recent years. It is reported that the four departments have also released a batch of reference cases for ecological and environmental damage compensation, which are divided into four categories: environmental pollution, ecological damage, involvement in the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, and enhancing the ability of enterprises to fulfill their responsibilities and promote green development. There are a total of 39 cases, covering ecological and environmental issues in multiple fields and national strategic priorities, forming complementary demonstration effects with the ten typical cases. This batch of cases has good innovative reference value, providing rich practical samples for various regions to carry out ecological environment damage compensation work, and offering practical paths that can be implemented and replicated to implement the concept of "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as gold and silver". It is reported that since December 2015, when the General Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the "Pilot Plan for the Reform of the Ecological Environment Damage Compensation System", the exploration of the reform of the ecological environment damage compensation system has been officially launched. After 10 years, the reform of the ecological environment damage compensation system has achieved positive results. As of December this year, relevant departments in various regions have handled about 66000 cases of ecological environment damage compensation, promoting the restoration of a large number of damaged ecological environments.
