2025-12-26

The cross departmental working group on festival arrangements of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government announced on the 25th that on New Year's Eve, except for the 24-hour customs clearance at the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge and the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang Port, the passenger clearance service at the Luohu Port will be closed at 2 am the next day instead of 12 pm that night, and the passenger and bus clearance service at the Shenzhen Bay Port will be closed overnight instead of 12 pm that night. It is reported that the East Rail Line of the New Year's Eve MTR will correspondingly extend its service hours, and the last train from Admiralty to Luohu will be delayed until 12:56 am the next day. To more effectively divert cross-border private cars, during the 24-hour customs clearance period at the Shenzhen Bay Port on New Year's Day, only cross-border private cars holding a closed road permit from the Lok Ma Chau Control Point are allowed to use the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang Port; As for cross-border private cars holding permits related to Shenzhen Bay Port, Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang, Heung Yuen Wai, Man Kam To or Sha Tau Kok control points, they can use Shenzhen Bay Port during the early morning hours of New Year's Day. In terms of cross-border buses, the SAR government and cross-border bus service operators have arranged to add services using the Shenzhen Bay Port during the early morning hours of New Year's Day. This will strengthen the use of services at the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang Port, including cross-border buses departing from major urban stations such as Wan Chai, Prince Edward, and Jordan, as well as shuttle buses (Huangba) and Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge shuttle buses (Jinba) between the Lok Ma Chau (Xintian) public transport interchange and the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang Port. In addition, public transportation dedicated channels will be established in areas such as the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang, and Shenzhen Bay Port when necessary to ensure smooth public transportation services. A spokesperson for the Special Administrative Region government stated that the implementation of special customs clearance arrangements this time facilitates residents from both sides to travel in both directions, reflecting the efficient and close cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The SAR government will closely monitor the situation and make quick responses and flexible deployment of manpower when necessary to ensure smooth operation of the port. The special administrative region government has also formulated additional plans for the peak period of cross-border passenger flow, and made preparations and prevention and control measures for various situations, including forming a cross departmental joint command center.
