On the morning of December 22nd, the Chinese Navy's 989 formation completed a 38 day comprehensive overseas internship mission and friendly visits to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and successfully arrived at a military port in Qingdao, Shandong. Since setting sail on November 15th, the formation has sailed through five sea areas including the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, South China Sea, Java Sea, and Western Pacific. More than 1500 students from the Naval Engineering University and Naval Aviation University have fought against the wind and waves, honing their skills in a journey of about 7000 nautical miles, leaving a new era of growth trajectory for naval students in the open ocean. What is the real battlefield like? This is a question that the students have been thinking about during their voyage. As an extension and expansion of the land-based classroom, the teaching content on the waves is more closely related to actual combat, including light control, reconnaissance deployment, and damage management training. In this internship task, the formation overall coordinated teaching and training, tailored meteorological analysis, combat duty and other follow-up training content for students, and combined with the activities of foreign military ships and aircraft, carried out subject training such as reconnaissance and evidence collection, ship tactical maneuvering, organized students to recognize targets and analyze intentions, and allowed students to hone their practical skills in the open sea and ocean. When sailing to a certain sea area, the formation encountered foreign fighter jets approaching for reconnaissance, and each ship immediately sounded the battle alarm. Trainees Zhang Tianyu and Luo Xun, who were conducting situational consultations in the chart room, closely tracked the every move of foreign fighter jets, marked their dynamics in real-time on the situational map, and further analyzed and judged the other party's intentions. Only by immersing oneself in it can one experience what it feels like to have an opponent by one's side. Mastering one's major is the foundation, and winning battles is the goal, "said Zhang Tianyu with deep emotion. The flowers in the greenhouse cannot withstand the wind and rain. The abilities and qualities of students should not only be cultivated in the classroom, but also tempered in the turbulent waves of the vast ocean. The navy is an international military branch, and naval students shoulder the mission of "standing in China to see the world, standing in the world to see China". Warships are mobile territories, and when going abroad, students are the windows to spread peace and friendship, and showcase the image of the Chinese navy. Every time they visit a country, the formation will organize an open visit, with students taking the lead in everything from communication and guidance to translation and introduction. Whenever docking at a foreign port, mighty warships and pure white military uniforms always become a beautiful scenery in the local area, "said student Li Chenning. When communicating with visiting naval academy students, he and his classmates took the initiative to introduce the construction of our naval academy, conveying the Chinese people's love for peace and showcasing the new style of naval academy students in the new era, winning widespread praise. On the evening of December 9th, a deck reception to witness and continue friendship was held on board the Changbai Mountain ship at Tanjung Pelu Port in Jakarta, Indonesia. The students showcased traditional Chinese performances such as calligraphy, Tai Chi, martial arts, and ethnic dances, which were warmly welcomed by Indonesian naval officers and overseas Chinese who came to participate in the event. An Indonesian naval officer sincerely praised, "Chinese naval students are confident, well-rounded, well-organized, and enthusiastic, which is impressive!" During the visit, 14 foreign officers and military academy students from 8 countries including Brazil and Brunei boarded the formation ship and went out to sea with Chinese students for mixed training. As a foreign military liaison officer, student Li Pinyan did his homework before leaving, collecting detailed information on the historical customs and naval development of the countries where foreign military students are located, and carefully preparing the exchange content, "just to better convey friendship and showcase the charm of Chinese naval students". Dear friends, I wish you a safe return and look forward to seeing you again next time! "On December 11th, the formation departed from Tanjung Pelu Port and successfully completed friendly visits to three Southeast Asian countries. After more than 10 days of sailing, the formation successfully returned home. Although the offshore comprehensive internship task has ended, the students' path of growth is sailing and breaking through the waves. From overcoming the problem of seasickness to persevering in combat readiness, every challenge is a tempering of willpower, and every breakthrough is an improvement of ability. The tracks plowed by the warship are engraved with the growth footprints of the students, and witness their firm oath of "marching towards war and making achievements in deep blue". (New Society)
