The groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation and upgrading project of the Dakar Bissau highway corridor, undertaken by Chinese enterprises, was held on the 22nd in Tanaf, southern Senegal. Senegalese President Faye attended the ceremony and laid the foundation for the project. The project is 26.4 kilometers long, starting from Tanaf city and ending at the border area between Senegal and Guinea Bissau. The project covers the renovation of road subgrade and pavement, upgrading of drainage system, and improvement of traffic safety facilities. Faye stated at the ceremony that the renovation and upgrading of this road will greatly facilitate the travel of Senegalese people and further promote personnel exchanges between Senegal and Guinea Bissau. He pointed out that the economic and trade exchanges between the two countries based on this transportation axis are very active, and the improvement of road conditions will provide strong support for the efficient circulation of goods. The project is undertaken by China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd. Sun Haijun, Deputy General Manager of China Harbour West Africa Regional Company, stated that this project is another fruitful result of cooperation in the infrastructure field between China and Senegal, injecting momentum into Senegal's economic and social development.
